Review of The Jack Lalanne Juicer

I am sure many of us have seen or remember the Jack Lalanne Juicer infomercial that was always shown on the television. Jack Lalanne is truly one of the pioneers of health and fitness, especially healthy eating. One of his favourite recommendations was on drinking healthy fruit and vegetable juices. Easy to make and packed full of nutrients, including vitamins and minerals, his juicers became popular. He developed the power juicer to help extract as much of these nutrients and juice as possible, from the fruit. Still today the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer, remains very popular and comes in a number of different models. Very much like Jack himself, whom at 95, still practices what he preaches, eating healthily and exercising regularly.

I have used a Jack Lalanne Juicer for a number of years and this is what I have found:

Advantages:

1. The juicer is very solid and sturdily built and remains steady when juicing. You don’t want one of these machines vibrating all over the place whilst in operation!

2. The juicer is a lot more quiet than other models I have used.

3. It has a collector for the fruit pulp which attaches to the rear of the juicer. To get even more benefit from juicing, don’t throw away this pulp. It can be used for a number of things such as adding to soups, adding bulk to homemade burgers and also can be used in making cakes.

4. A large shoot allows a lot of fruit and vegetables to fit through without having to chop up beforehand.

5. I have not had any mechanical issues so far, but spares are relatively easy to come by and are inexpensive.

Disadvantages:

1. The spout is static which means that you can get drips after on your work-surface after you’ve removed your glass or juice container. I believe that is in the cheaper models. The more expensive Jack Lalanne Juicer have a spout which you can now lift up.

2. Some harder vegetables and fruit require a little more pressure than is stated to get them throughout the juicer. This applies particularly to vegetables like carrots and beets.

3. The juicer needs to be cleaned immediately after use, especially with produce like carrots and oranges which can stain the plastic. This is only a n aesthetic factor and does not affect the cleanliness or workability of the juicer.

Buying a Juicer:

One of the easiest ways to buy a Jack Lalanne juicer is online and one of the best places is Amazon which has the whole range. Prices currently range from $90.74 for the basic Jack Lalanne Power Juicer to $149.99 for theĀ  Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Pro.

Overall I think this juicer is an excellent juicer and you probably won’t find a better juicer for the $100 costs and you may even find it cheaper, such as the Amazon example above, if you shop around. If you’re looking for a good quality juicer to get yourself back into shape then take a look at the Jack Lalanne Juicer.
