How to Decorate Small Apartments

For many people, living in an apartment is inevitable, especially if you live in an urban area. Many apartments have a small living space but there is always room for improvement. There are still ways of turning it into something beautiful and more pleasing not just to look at but pleasing to live in as well. You can also use a few tricks to make your space seem a lot bigger than it actually is.

If you have a studio, this poses a special problem. Most studios have everything all in one open space, which does contribute to a more spacious feel but certainly lacks privacy. Many people like to use dividers to create some division between the different rooms, and the good news is that you can usually find room dividers cheap or you can make them yourself. For dividing your space, you can use either thin folding room dividers or dark colored thick curtains to save space. It’s easy to make your own curtain room divider using some cheap drapes and a curtain rod.

There are many ways of adding decorative touches to a small apartment. All you have to do is unleash your hidden creativity and make your apartment more comfortable to live in and get rid of the plain boring look of an unfurnished apartment’s overall look. Most apartments have boring white walls but if your contract allows it, you can change the shade of your walls and ceilings by painting them with other light colors that are more pleasing to the eyes. With light colors, you can make your space look clean and look like it is spacious even if it is not really that big.

However, if your landlord objects, then you always have the option of putting light colored wallpaper or large picture frames to change that boring look in your apartment. There are many types and colors of wallpaper you can choose from and there are also many beautiful large frames you can find on the market.

Another way to add some visual interest to your living space is by using light colored curtains in your windows. This way, you can have enough light enter into your apartment thus giving you a brighter environment. With curtains, you can control the amount of heat entering your space. If you want something that would not only block too much light from the sunlight but noise as well, you can have the option of using thermal curtains.
